The SGAIC qualification was formed by members of the Scottish Angler's National Association's Coaching Committee. SANA, are the governing body for Game Angling in Scotland. It is hoped, that SANA will negotiate with GAIA regarding the formal recognition of the level 1, level 2 and level 3 qualifications and their implementation. It is GAIA's wish to work as a partner with SANA, promoting the interests of game angling throughout Scotland

SGAIC instructors who were qualified prior to 2004 are accepted for membership of GAIA. Any instructor qualified by SANA after this time will be required to undertake and pass a Practical Assessment before being entitled to membership.
